Autodesk BIM 360 Design, a key component of the Autodesk Construction Cloud, continues to evolve with new features and services that enhance collaboration and project management. Recently, the platform introduced a Europe-based data center for primary storage of project data, offering users greater flexibility in managing their information. Additionally, BIM 360 Design now integrates with Collaboration for Plant 3D, expanding its capabilities for plant design and engineering teams. Used across more than 150 countries and supporting around 40,000 projects, BIM 360 Design enables real-time collaboration among architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) professionals—whether they're working within their own company or across multiple organizations and disciplines. The expansion into Europe reflects the growing demand for localized data storage and improved performance for users in the region. "The rapid growth in BIM 360 Design's user base over the past two years highlights the increasing complexity of modern projects and the need for flexible, cloud-based collaboration," said Nicolas Mangon, Vice President of AEC Business Strategy and Marketing at Autodesk. "In today’s evolving work environment, maintaining project continuity and team flexibility is more important than ever." Indeed, the number of BIM 360 Design subscribers in Europe has nearly doubled since the start of Q1FY20, and global project creation rates have surged by approximately 350% since the shift to remote work in mid-February. As part of Autodesk’s response to the challenges posed by the pandemic, BIM 360 Design for Revit was made available for free until May 31, 2020 through the Extended Access Program. "Cloud-based collaboration has become central to our workflow," said Alex Mortiboys, Head of BIM at Dutch firm Office of Metropolitan Architecture (OMA). "With the addition of a European data center, we can confidently offer BIM 360 Design to clients across Europe and beyond, improving efficiency and transparency in our projects." Beyond the new data center, BIM 360 Design now supports integration with AutoCAD Plant 3D. This connection allows plant designers and engineers to better manage access permissions, share files securely, and collaborate more effectively across time zones, disciplines, and organizations. It complements existing cloud integrations like BIM 360 Design for Revit and Civil 3D, creating a unified platform for all project data. Black & Veatch, a leading engineering firm, has leveraged this integration to streamline its global operations. “The BIM 360 platform now serves as a single source of truth for all our ongoing projects,” said Dave Reed, Technology Manager at Black & Veatch. “This has significantly improved both internal and external collaboration, without the need for complex IT infrastructure.” Whether you're managing large-scale construction projects or small engineering tasks, BIM 360 Design offers powerful tools to keep your teams connected and your projects on track. Learn how it can help your organization stay agile, collaborative, and efficient in the cloud.
