I just got back from covering a house fire that happened earlier today. I arrived on the scene a bit late, around 10 minutes after things started winding down. From what I could see, the firefighters did an impressive job containing the flames pretty quickly despite the significant amount of fire they were dealing with.
One interesting thing I noticed was that the Niles engine and tower ladder were positioned for potential master stream operations, but they didn’t end up using them. I think the reason might be that the first-in Park Ridge quint was severely damaged in a previous fire, and its ladder is reportedly out of service. It seems like it’s still operational but without the aerial being utilized.
