LAS VEGAS, Nov. 18, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — Autodesk University (AU), the annual global event for professionals in construction, architecture, engineering, manufacturing, and media creation, kicked off today in Las Vegas. This year’s conference brings together over 12,000 attendees from around the world to explore the future of design, innovation, and sustainable making through immersive learning sessions, hands-on experiences, and networking opportunities.
The event was opened by Autodesk President and CEO Andrew Anagnost, who emphasized the company's ongoing commitment to empowering industries with tools that help them do more while minimizing their environmental impact. This year’s theme, “More and Less,†highlights the potential for progress—better workflows, better outcomes, and a better world—as industries continue to evolve.
Anagnost was joined by notable guest speakers, including Dr. Elizabeth Hausler, founder and CEO of Build Change, and Asa Kalama, executive creative director at Walt Disney Imagineering. Their insights reflected the growing importance of technology in addressing real-world challenges, from disaster resilience to creative innovation.
Two additional keynotes focused on advancements in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) sector, as well as the design and manufacturing industries. These sessions showcased cutting-edge technologies and highlighted how these fields are converging to drive cross-industry innovation.
Attendees also had the chance to explore the AU Las Vegas Expo, where they could experience groundbreaking projects such as an AI-designed mass-produced chair, the world’s largest AR-enhanced hybrid manufacturing machine, and digital innovations in sustainable water infrastructure. A special space was dedicated to a high-performance basketball and entertainment center designed with community in mind.
Another highlight of the event was the official launch of the Autodesk Group Network, a new initiative connecting over 80 global user groups to foster collaboration, support, and innovation across industries.
Autodesk also announced Build Change as the recipient of this year’s AU Donation Drive. Since 2014, the Autodesk Foundation has supported Build Change in its mission to build disaster-resilient homes and schools, helping millions live in safer conditions. The company is committed to contributing 1% of its operating margin to the foundation annually.
For the fifth consecutive year, AU Las Vegas 2019 was a carbon-neutral event, reflecting Autodesk’s broader goal to achieve full carbon neutrality by 2020. This effort includes investments in renewable energy, efficiency improvements, and carbon offset initiatives.
Throughout the conference, Autodesk shared updates on new products, partnerships, and initiatives aimed at helping customers embrace a more sustainable and innovative future. News will be posted regularly on the Autodesk blog and social channels.
Autodesk University is more than just a conference—it’s a global movement. With events in eight countries and online access for over 2.5 million users, AU continues to inspire and empower creators worldwide. Learn more at [autodesku.com](http://www.autodesku.com) or follow @AutodeskU and #AU2019.
