This is our ninth installment in the series highlighting *The Color of Fire Trucks*, brought to you once again by Bill Friedrich, focusing on MABAS Division 7. This division covers Kankakee County and part of Iroquois County. The unique color schemes of fire apparatus in this area tell a story of evolution, tradition, and sometimes, even mystery. One standout vehicle from the Essex Fire Protection District was Squad 1974, a 1974 Dodge Power Wagon that had been modified by the department. It was the only white truck in their fleet, making it a rare and notable piece of local fire history.

In Kankakee, the City Fire Department had two units built on Mack CF chassis, both painted white over lime-green. One of these was Ladder 6, a 1983 Mack CF600 equipped with a 100' Pirsch aerial ladder, a 1,250-GPM pump, and 200 gallons of water. Both of these rigs had white roofs, and today, they are no longer in service.
