This is a report from Steve Redick:

On Sunday, I covered the still and box alarm at Cortland and Kingsbury, an industrial area where a large scrap metal operation was on fire. A massive pile of junk cars was burning, and since the location is right next to the river, Engine 2, the city's large fireboat, was dispatched to the scene. They eventually connected a 4-inch line to Engine 55, which then used a multi-purpose nozzle. There were discussions about using the boat’s main water cannons, and the “crows nest” turret was raised on the back of the fireboat, but there wasn’t a clear line of sight to the fire from the river. The access around the area was very limited, and I was shooting directly into a bright, low sun—making for some challenging conditions. Despite that, I managed to capture some interesting shots of the fireboat in action, as well as what appeared to be an air monitoring unit deployed by the hazmat team. All the photos and videos from this incident are available on my website.
