Karl Klotz captured a fire incident this afternoon in Frankfort. Here's his report:
Frankfort Fire, November 22, 2011 – 20111 Rosewood Drive. Frankfort Truck Company 2 arrived to find a two-story, frame house heavily involved in the front section. The fire appeared to have originated in the garage area. Firefighters launched an aggressive defensive attack before making entry into the home. Fortunately, no one was injured, but several cats were successfully rescued from the scene. Companies from Frankfort, Matteson, and Manhattan also responded to the call.
The fire quickly spread through the front of the house, with flames visible from the street. Firefighters from Frankfort Engine Company 1 and 3 worked diligently to extinguish hot spots, while Frankfort Tower 5 provided ventilation from the rear. A strong effort was made to control the fire and prevent it from spreading further.
Multiple photos capture the aftermath, showing the damage to the structure and the efforts of first responders. One firefighter from Frankfort Engine Company 3 managed to rescue a cat from the house, though it later escaped before being recaptured. Another cat was saved by a Matteson firefighter, and a final feline was safely brought out by a local firefighter.
This incident highlights the quick response and dedication of emergency personnel, who not only protected the property but also ensured the safety of the animals inside. An extensive gallery with more images can be found HERE.
