VIAB Turbo Reducer Clutch

The VIAB turbo-reducing clutch is one of Voith's most prominent exhibits at this year's IAA auto show. In a fluid power circuit, it combines turbocharged coupling and reducer to ensure wear-free starting and braking. This will make the vehicle particularly easy to start on weight or difficult terrain. Compared to conventional torque converters, VIAB turbo-reducing clutches are more compact, lighter, and more efficient. It does not overheat the machine due to frequent starting of the brakes, but also makes the vehicle more adaptable to complex terrain. Voith's development of this component was based on efficiency, sustainability and fuel economy. Nowadays, Mercedes-Benz Arocs engineering trucks are used with this clutch truck. Recently, VIAB Turbo Geared Clutch was named "2014 Best Practice Innovation Award" in the readers' voting campaign of the trade magazine "Logistra".

Crankshaft water retarder SWR

Voith's front crankshaft retarder SWR is the first retarder to use water as a cooling medium and uses engine coolant technology. This means that it can carry out up to 90% of the wear-free braking operation of the vehicle without extra operations. At the same time, it is much smaller in volume than ordinary retarders, and it weighs about 35 kg lighter. Since its launch in 2012, the SWR Water Retarder SWR has won numerous awards. In 2012, the Huss publishing house in Munich, Germany awarded the "European Transport Award" to Voith's front crankshaft water retarder SWR in recognition of its outstanding contribution to the commercial vehicle sector. In 2013, at the Kortrijk International Bus Expo in Belgium, the SWR front water retarder was awarded the Best Innovation Award.
