A solenoid valve consists of two main parts: The Solenoid and the Valve. The solenoid is a cylindrical coil of wire that acts as an electromagnet when electric current passes through it. The valve acts as a control device, directing the flow of fluid by closing, opening, or partially obstructing pathways. The valve body includes ports, seats, and orifices that allow fluid movement when the solenoid is energized or de-energized. The solenoid tube assembly is made of stainless steel, sealed at one end, and contains a movable plunger guided magnetically. The plunger is attracted by the magnetic field generated by the solenoid coil and slides inside the tube. A return spring holds the plunger in position when energized and returns it when de-energized. The seat seal closes the main orifice and is located on the movable plunger.
